SASK BASEBALL LOOKING TO FORM A
SENIOR WOMEN'S TEAM
Sask Baseball is pleased to announce that Nathan Bourassa has committed to coach a Team Sask Women's Team that will hopefully participate in the 2013 Senior Women's Baseball Canada Championship in Granby, Quebec from July 11-14.
We will need to find at least 15 committed players to play on the team and we are hoping to create enough interest to have a selection camp.
All female athletes are welcome to tryout for this team, however, we would prefer athletes who have a background playing baseball, softball or fastball.
All teams competing at the Women's Nationals will be scouted by Baseball Canada and will have the potential to be selected to the Baseball Canada Women's National Team.
Sask Baseball will be providing a travel grant to help offset some of the costs associated with travelling to Quebec.
Tryout information will be available in a couple weeks depending on weather. In the meantime, if you are interested please e-mail Mike Ramage and we will keep you posted on any new information.
The Pee Wee and Bantam Teams will compete at the Pee Wee Invitational and Baseball Canada Championships. The Bantam Girls division is for girls born in 1994, 95 & 96 and will compete in the 2010 Baseball Canada Bantam Girls Championship at a location TBA. The Pee Wee Girls is for girls born in 1997 & 98. The 2010 Pee Wee Girls Invitational Championship will take place at a location TBA. It is important for girls who are interested in this program to attend a tryout camp near them in order to be identified.
To be eligible to participate in the Girls Program, all players must be registered with paid fees on a Sask Baseball membership registration form by the May 15th deadline. There will be no zone boundary rules to follow in forming the teams, meaning the team can be formed from players from across the province. There is also the chance that there will be more than one team registered and there may be a Provincial Championship to determine representative for Invitational or Nationals in the Pee Wee and Bantam divisions. Teams attending either of the Girls Championships will receive a travel grant from Saskatchewan Baseball that will help cover some of the travel expenses. This travel grant will be similar to the grant that other club teams receive who are attending a Western or National Championship representing Sask Baseball. The Coach or Manager will be responsible for all planning (i.e. tryouts, travel, accommodations, meals, etc.).
For more information on Girls Baseball travel grants contact Mike Ramage at the Sask Baseball Office at 780-9237 or email him at mramage@sasktel.net.
